However, the provider of the card cautions that although Apollo should work fine with the card, Luna will not run on classic Mac Pros prior to the 2013 "trashcan" model due to a missing CPU instruction set.Like all good upgrades, the card doesn't leave the past behind. The build will include a Gigabyte GC Titan Ridge Thunderbolt and USB3 card that has been flashed to be compatible with the Mac Pro. I plan to blog about it here and over on the Music Player Forums. 5,1 model, though I also have a couple of 2008 3,1s) to as modern specs as possible for music production and video editing.More details about identifiers are provided in EveryMac. Probably best to assume that Luna will never run on a cheesegrater.Nigel, my research confirms everything you said above. We already have a guy in contact with Intel tech support looking into this. But I wouldn’t hold out much hope. But all Macs without factory fitted thunderbolt, and that includes all cheesegraters including 2012 models, have cpus that do not support AVX.And, there are no AVX supporting cpus that can be retro-fitted into cheesegraters. You are correct that the Trashcan Mac Pros are the earliest Mac Pros that can run Luna. There is a very slim chance that we may be able to get Luna running on cheesegraters, by using an AVX emulator that Intel provide precisely for the purpose of running software that needs AVX on computers without it. They haven’t written a trap for this into Luna yet, it just crashes inelegantly.Re CPUs, I can confirm that ALL macs fitted with thunderbolt as part of factory spec do support AVX. I suspected AVX as the problem, and UA eventually confirmed that Luna uses (and so requires) a cpu that supports AVX. Free download lagu petra sihombing mine versi inggrisThe realistic prognosis is that updates to DAWs, video NLEs, and other things creatives rely on will eventually break their aging cheese graters and some otherwise powerful Windows computers as well. And there are good reasons, because AVX is extremely powerful for media applications. Native Instruments Massive X is one example. ![]()
